Have you ever been so tired you could feel it in your body, but your brain absolutely refused to cooperate?

In this episode of The Busy Brain Do-Over, Candace shares a real-life night of lying awake for hours, exhausted but wired, and explains why this experience is so common for busy, high-capacity women. If your brain tends to replay, scan, or plan the moment you get into bed, this episode will feel familiar.

This isn’t about fixing your sleep or doing bedtime right.
It’s about helping your brain transition out of the day.

What You'll Learn:

You’ll learn The Shut-Down Do-Over, a simple, supportive reset for nights when your body is tired but your brain won’t stand down.

This Do-Over helps your brain feel finished enough to let go, without pressure or force.

The Shut-Down Do-Over:

Step One: Name What’s Still Open
Instead of asking why you can’t fall asleep, ask what your brain is still holding onto. Tomorrow’s plans, an unfinished task, or a conversation replaying in your mind all count. Just naming it helps reduce the noise.

Step Two: Close the Loop Gently
Acknowledge what your brain is holding. You can say, “I see this,” or write down a few words if you’re worried about forgetting. This isn’t about solving anything. It’s about letting your brain know it doesn’t have to stay alert all night.

Step Three: Release the Pressure to Sleep
Shift from “I have to fall asleep” to “My job is to rest.” Rest can be stillness, breathing, or simply letting your body feel supported. Sleep comes more easily when urgency is removed.

Why This Matters:

When your brain won’t shut off at night, it’s easy to assume something is wrong with you. But busy brains don’t power down just because the lights go off. They power down when they feel safe and complete.

This episode is a reminder that rest isn’t something you earn by finishing everything. It’s a transition your brain needs support with. And that support can be gentle.
